Pile work in the Canora sector

Pile work in the Canora sector

Construction activities  | Major
March 2, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.*
Centre of Montréal

Nature of the work

Tests on the load-bearing capacity of recently concreted piles at the Canora station will be carried out Saturday, March 2. This activity involves striking the piles with a power shovel. At the same time, the bored piles will be driven down to the bedrock level. This work will take place in the railway right-of-way at the bottom of the slope. It should take a day, and will generate noise.

*Work will be carried out between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Work before and after this period will be necessary to mobilize and demobilize all the elements required to perform the work and to clean up the site.

Impacts and mitigation measures

The REM project office and the NouvLR consortium are aware of the inconvenience that this work may create, but rest assured that all the necessary measures have been put in place to reduce the impact, including:

  • Equipment at the bottom of the slope
  • Acoustic enclosures around the piles and hammer
  • White noise alarms on most of the equipment
