Acoustic grinding of REM tracks

Nature of work
To reduce noise from the passage of REM cars on the section between Gare Centrale and Île-des-Sœurs stations, acoustic grinding of the track is scheduled for October 31, November 1 and 2, 2023, and from November 5 to 9, 2023, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Grinding the track reduces rail roughness, thereby attenuating the noise associated with the passage of REM cars. The grinder - the equipment used to perform the grinding - will travel at a speed of around 40 km/h over the section, making between 5 and 8 round trips per night. Occasional noise impacts are to be expected.

Work to install dampers will continue until early December. This work is being carried out in parallel with grinding, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Impacts and mitigation measures
- Night work will be required during this period.
- Noise impacts are expected to occur from time to time as a result of this work.
SERVICE INTERRUPTION BETWEEN PANAMA AND GARE CENTRALE STATIONS
REM service will be interrupted on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 p.m., between Gare Centrale and Panama stations, to allow the installation of dampers and track grinding. Bus shuttles will provide service.
