Major traffic disruptions on Highway 15 North – Installation of elevated structure

Road  | Major
Friday, October 30 at 10 p.m. through Monday, November 2 at 5 a.m.*
Downtown

Nature of the work

Construction of the elevated structure of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) continues on Île-des-Sœurs. The next step is to install the beams and deck over Highway 15 North. Work will be spread out over several weekends; the first one begins Friday, October 30 at 10 p.m. and lasts through Monday, November 2 at 5 a.m.

Impacts and mitigation measures

Several significant traffic pattern disruptions will take place in order to complete this work.

  • The following highway segments will be completely closed to traffic:
    • On Highway 15 North, between exits 58 and 60
    • On Bonavaneture Expressway between exit 4 and Highway 15 South
  • The following local roads on Île-des-Sœurs will be completely closed to traffic:
    • On Île-des-Sœurs Blvd. in the southbound direction, between the Pointe-Nord Road and Golf Road traffic circles
    • At the Highway 15 on-ramp at the Claude-Robutel traffic circle
    • On the Golf Road path
  • For L'Île-des-Sœurs residents, direct access to Highway 15 North will therefore be closed and a detour will have to be made to reach the neighbourhood from the Bonaventure Expressway.
  • Appropriate signage will be installed and detours will be available:
    • Detour for Highway 15 North: from exit 58 to the Bonaventure Expressway, to Robert-Bourassa Blvd. and Saint-Antoine Street to the Ville-Marie Highway.
    • Detour for the Bonaventure Expressway and access to Île-des-Soeurs: from exit 4 on the Bonaventure Expressway, to Gaëtan-Laberge Blvd. and on Highway 15 South.
  • A shuttle will be set up to accommodate bicycle traffic.

  • During this period, we recommend seeking an alternate route if at all possible.

This work will be carried out simultaneously with other obstructions planned by KPH Turcot and PJCCI. For more information, please visit: https://mobilitymontreal.gouv.qc.ca/network-condition/major-closures/.

* Dates subject to change depending on weather conditions. Due to the nature of the activities being performed, certain tasks cannot be interrupted while they are in progress; they must be completed to maintain the integrity of the existing infrastructure. Should this situation arise, the work period will be extended to complete the work already begun.
