Construction of the Des Sources Viaduct

Construction of the Des Sources Viaduct

Construction activities
Starting mid-February 2022, for approximately five months Mostly weekdays, during the day West of Des Sources Boulevard
West Island and Airport

Nature of the work:

The first step in the construction of the elevated structure in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro sector was completed in 2021 with the construction of the pillars.

The work will continue in 2022, notably with the construction of the retaining walls of the future railway viaduct, which will span Des Sources Boulevard. These side walls will support the viaduct’s west end. The height of the retaining walls will vary from 4.5 m to 7 m in order to gradually reach the height of the elevated structure.

The map below shows the location of the retaining walls. These walls provide a safe transition between the ground and the elevated structure.

Impacts and mitigation measures:

The goal of the REM project office and the NouvLR consortium is to mitigate the impact on local residents and ensure everyone’s safety by taking all appropriate measures.

  • This work will generate noise, dust and vibrations. Environmental specialists will monitor the project to ensure that it complies with applicable noise, air quality and vibration criteria. It is important to note that the human body can feel low vibrations. Human beings are therefore much more sensitive to vibrations than structures are.
  • Des Sources Boulevard remains accessible to car and pedestrian traffic.
