Nature of the work

Begun in spring 2019, the excavation of McGill College Avenue will be completed this summer with the demolition of the vault of the Mount Royal Tunnel, through which the REM will travel. This phase will then make it possible to begin construction of the future McGill REM station.

Impacts and mitigation measures

  • This work will generate significant noise, vibrations and dust. Environmental experts will monitor noise and air quality to ensure that project criteria are met. Mitigation measures may be added as required to complement those already in place.
  • Night and weekend work could occur.
  • Trucking is to be expected in the area while materials and equipment are being transported.

* Concentrated noisy activity in the daytime and evenings. Preliminary and subsequent work may be required for preparing or completing the work and for clearing the site.
