Removal of temporary parking access bridge at Eaton Centre

Removal of temporary parking access bridge at Eaton Centre

Road
July 8th to July 22nd 2023
Downtown

Nature of work:

After 4 years of major work, the excavation hole at the McGill station site is now invisible from the air. This summer, a major milestone was reached with the construction of the roof slab that closes off the underground station. Construction of the platforms and station areas is also well underway, and will continue into 2023.
Last but not least, repair work on the double-arch of the Mount Royal Tunnel has been completed to make way for the installation of the new REM infrastructure.

Activities will continue in the following sequence:

Steps Schedule
Removal of temporary access bridge to Eaton Centre parking lot ( entrance and exit impossible) Saturday, July 8th, 7 pm to Sunday, July 9th, 7 am
One-way traffic using a signaller July 9th 2023 to July 22nd 2023

Impacts and mitigations measures :

  • Traffic obstructions remain in place:
    • On boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest: left lane between boul. Robert-Bourassa and av. McGill College.
    • On McGill College Avenue: northbound between Cathcart and Sherbrooke St. W., as well as partial southbound obstruction between Sherbrooke St. W. and Cathcart. Contresens maintained to ease traffic flow.
    • Pedestrian traffic will remain impeded between the entrance to the Montreal Eaton Centre parking lot and 1801 McGill College Avenue.
    • The work may cause occasional obstructions around this perimeter.

  • The work will generate noise, dust and truck traffic. To ensure compliance with the noise and air quality criteria to which the project is subject, monitoring is carried out by environmental experts.

  • All shops and office towers will remain accessible during the work, as will the Eaton Centre parking lot and delivery dock. Access to the parking lot, however, will be impossible exclusively from 7 p.m. July 8th to 7 a.m. July 9th.
