Nature of the work :

A multifunctional path for pedestrians and cyclists will be built to connect the REM’s future Panama station to Sector T for commissioning, as shown below. This work will start during the week of August 8 and extend over a period of 2 to 3 months. It will include the following steps:

  • Tree cutting
  • Path construction (earthwork, excavation, foundations and paving): this first phase will last approximately 4 to 6 weeks and include the noisiest activities.
  • Marking and installation of the fence
  • Outdoor installations (security cameras and lighting)
  • Landscaping

In parallel, the development of the southern access to the REM Panama station entrance tunnel will be finalized (installation of pavers, lighting and landscaping).

Impacts and mitigation measures :

  • This work will generate noise, vibration, dust and truck traffic.
  • Environmental experts will monitor the work and mitigation measures will be deployed.
  • Tree cutting will be required to complete the work.

A connection in two stages

The connection between the Panama station and Sector T will be carried out in two stages. First, it will be configured near the Tisserand Avenue bend. Combined with new road development work and traffic calming measures, this connection will provide safe service to Sector T residents with direct access to Panama station in time for the start of REM train service.

Then, in 2023, the connection will be linked to the car drop-off area, which will be developed by the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM), north of Place Portobello, in accordance with the concept announced in June 2022 following citizen participation activities and the adoption of a resolution at the Brossard city council meeting.

*Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. In addition, work before and after this time period, or on the weekend, may be necessary.
