Vegetation cutting in anticipation of the REM work
Road
Nature of Work:
Vegetation cutting in the area of rue les Peupliers and rue les Érables will take place during the week of February 21th 2022. Please note that these operations will result in a partial closure with alternating traffic on rue les Peupliers, between rue des Érables and les Ormes, as well as a complete closure of a section of the bicycle path.
This work is required in preparation for the lowering of the roadway at the junction of rue les Peupliers and rue les Érables, which is scheduled for March 2022 and for which other communications will follow.
All targeted vegetation is within the construction site limits. No trees will be cut on private property. The targeted trees are those whose survival is threatened by the roadway lowering work and/or in conflict with the utility relocation work.
Mitigation Measures:
Efforts are being made to minimize vegetation cutting to what is actually required for the REM work:
- Meticulous work to identify vegetation to be cut is performed by forestry engineers and NouvLR's construction team and reviewed by the EMN team's environmental experts.
- The field crews double-check the need to cut the trees and shrubs identified in the clearing plans.
- Where possible, the NouvLR consortium's work method is adjusted to limit vegetation cuts to the minimum required.
*These dates are subject to change. Pre- and post-clearance work will allow for the mobilization and demobilization of equipment and site clean-up.
