Work schedule for
2018-2019

The work schedule in 2018-2019 is provided for informational purposes only and could evolve according to the needs of the consortia. It is carried out in close collaboration with the municipalities and partners in the Greater Montreal area.

2018-2019

The REM preparatory work started in March 2018, consisting in geotechnical drilling to assess soil composition and resistance — a prerequisite to design and construct the various infrastructures. Starting in the summer of 2018, the work will take place simultaneously on the REM 4 branches.

South Shore to Griffintown

Starting in:

  • Spring 2018: geotechnical surveys, location and relocation of public and municipal services

  • Summer 2018: construction of REM structures and tracks in Highway 10 median

  • Fall 2018: construction of temporary Panama terminal and Du Quartier station, set up of temporary access/exit ramp on highway A10 (Boulevard Taschereau, Boulevard Lapinière), construction of Lachine Canal bridge and elevated Pointe-Saint-Charles structure

  • Winter and summer 2019 : demolition of Chevrier tunnel, construction of De la Commune bridge

  • Fall 2019 : construction of Île-des-Sœurs and Panama stations, construction of bridge over Île-des-Sœurs Channel, preparatory work on Central Station

Central Station, McGill and Édouard-Montpetit

Starting in:

  • Summer 2018: excavation and construction of future REM entrance structure (closing of the entrance near Marie-Victorin pavilion)

  • Fall 2018: construction of future connection (obstruction on McGill College)

Deux-Montagnes and Mascouche lines

Starting in:

  • Spring 2018: geotechnical surveys, location and relocation of public and municipal services

  • June 2018: a segment of the Deux­-Montagnes line will run along a single track in the Ville Mont‑Royal sector so that new stations can be built

  • January 2020: the entire segment of the Deux‑Montagnes line between Du Ruisseau and Central Station will be closed for approximately 24 months

Note: the service will be closed on the Deux-Montagnes and Mascouche lines on Friday night and weekends starting April 27, 2018, and the train schedule will be adjusted starting June 25, 2018. Check the RTM alternative routes to plan your trip.

Airport and West Island

Starting in:

  • Spring 2018: geotechnical surveys, location and relocation of public and municipal services

  • Fall 2018 and the year 2019: lay foundation for continuous elevated structure on the whole branch, installation of superstructure, excavation at the Technoparc, boring of Airport tunnel
