Modification of the barriers in the Île-des-Soeurs sector for the REM work

Road
Starting October 12, 2021, for approximately 2 months
Downtown

Nature of the work:

The work to connect the station to the public utilities network (water, gas, sewer) and the modification of the Claude-Robutel traffic circle is progressing. In order to proceed, a modification of the existing traffic barriers is necessary.

A portion of René-Lévesque Blvd. René-Lévesque will remain closed until the end of November, and an additional barrier will be required on Champlain Bridge Street starting October 12, 2021, for approximately 2 months.

Impacts and mitigation measures:

  • Several roadblocks are planned to carry out this work:
    • Blvd. René-Lévesque: complete closure between Jacques-Le Ber and Champlain Bridge southbound. A detour will have to be made via de l'Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard. The Jacques-Le Ber entrance ramp for the A15 north or the A10 west will be maintained and traffic will be open to the north;
    • Rue du Pont Champlain: Complete closure of Rue du Pont Champlain between René-Lévesque Blvd. René-Lévesque and the Claude-Robutel traffic circle. A detour will have to be made via de l'Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard.
  • The Samuel de Champlain Bridge multipurpose path and the sidewalk will remain accessible. They will be diverted and secured within the work site.
  • The work will generate noise and dust. To ensure compliance with the noise and air quality criteria to which the project is subject, environmental experts will monitor the work throughout the project. Mitigation measures may be implemented if necessary.
  • Occasional night or weekend work is possible.
  • Trucking will take place near the work areas.

The map below illustrates the barriers ahead:

*Noisy activities concentrated during the day and evening. However, due to the nature of the work, it cannot be interrupted during execution and must be completed to ensure the integrity of the existing infrastructure. If this situation arises, the time slot will be extended to complete the work.
