Major obstructions in the Wellington, Bridge and St. Patrick areas

Major obstructions in the Wellington, Bridge and St. Patrick areas

Road  | Major
From September 12 at 11 pm for about 4 weeks
Downtown

Nature of the work:

Due to redevelopment work on Wellington Street, a complete closure of Saint-Patrick Street will be necessary. This closure will allow us to reconfigure the street, carry out underground sewer work and install new sidewalks.

The work will take place starting September 12 at 11pm for about 4 weeks. Please note that other phases of work will follow, and will be communicated accordingly.

Impacts and mitigation measures:

Impediments will be in place in the area of Wellington, Bridge and Saint-Patrick streets.

Wellington Street, between the Lachine Canal viaduct and Bridge Street approximately :

  • Two lanes closed (Verdun direction)
  • Maintain two lanes for traffic in each direction (downtown and Verdun)
  • Pedestrian detour: via the viaduct staircase to the park along the Lachine Canal to join rue Saint-Patrick (corner of Saint-Columban)

Wellington Street, corner of Bridge:

  • No left turns on Bridge from Wellington
  • Access to Bridge Street (towards the Victoria Bridge) will be via a detour route via Centre, de Condé and Saint-Patrick streets.

Saint-Patrick Street, between Wellington and Saint-Columban Streets:

  • Complete obstruction
  • Access to shops and businesses in the area will be maintained with the assistance of traffic wardens.
  • Pedestrian traffic maintained

Saint-Columban Street, between Saint-Patrick and Wellington Streets:

  • Local traffic only

Noise, dust and vibrations could be generated by this work. To ensure compliance with the criteria to which the project is subject, monitoring will be carried out by environmental experts.

Congestion is to be expected, and we recommend avoiding the area wherever possible.

*Dates are subject to change.
