Reconstruction of Wellington Road – Complete closure of a portion of Wellington Street

Nature of work:

Due to redevelopment work on rue Wellington, a complete closure of a section between Saint-Patrick and Bridge will be necessary. This closure will also allow for the reconfiguration of the street, with the integration of a two-way bicycle path and new sidewalks. This obstruction will take place from the end of June 2023 and will remain in place until September.

A first phase of obstruction will take place from June 26 to July 9, 2023. A second phase will take place from July 10 to September 2023.

Please note that other phases of work will take place thereafter, for which further communications will follow.

Impacts and mitigations measures:

Phase from June 26 to July 9 (overnight) :

  • Wellington Street, between St-Patrick and Bridge: completely closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. 

Car detour: via Bridge and Mill streets to downtown, and via St-Patrick and Bridge streets to Verdun. 

Pedestrian detour: via Bridge and St. Patrick to reach Wellington Street.

  • St-Patrick Street, between Wellington and Bridge: one-way westbound traffic maintained. 
  • St-Columban Street, between St-Patrick and Wellington: local traffic.

Phase from July 10 to September 2023:

  • Rue Wellington, between rue St-Patrick and Bridge: completely closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Automobile detour: via Bridge and St-Patrick streets to and from downtown.
Pedestrian detour: via Bridge and rue St-Patrick to rue Wellington.

  • Rue Saint-Patrick, between rue Wellington and Bridge: reopening to traffic in both directions.
  • Rue Saint-Columban, between rue St-Patrick and Wellington: local traffic.
  • Noise, dust and vibrations may be generated by this work. To ensure compliance with the criteria to which the project is subject, monitoring will be carried out by environmental experts.
  • Access to local businesses will be maintained at all times.
