REM trains set for trial run between Du Ruisseau and McGill Stations

Nature of the tests :
Two REM trains will do an initial run at very low speed between Du Ruisseau and McGill Stations on March 1 and 2 before entering the Mount Royal Tunnel. A first since construction began.
The trip will serve to check the tracks. In other words, the REM trains will move slowly along the tracks, allowing the system to communicate with the beacons along the route. By capturing the signal from the beacons, this will allow the REM cars to operate automatically by indicating their exact position in real time. Additionally, this step will allow them to identify network elements such as station arrival and the position of platforms and switches.
The beacon test must be completed before preparing the network for the preliminary test runs, which are scheduled for spring 2025 on this segment.
Please note that:
‒ For safety reasons, unauthorized persons are prohibited from walking on the tracks, under penalty of prosecution
‒ An operator will be present in the train at all times
‒ It will be possible to see a stationary REM train.
