The REM tracks are elevated in places, especially to travel over the old level crossings, all of which are to be eliminated. The elevations are gradual in order to respect the maximum slopes. The elevated tracks are supported by sloping embankments or walls. The choice of using walls is always a last resort, when there is not enough space for embankments. The maps below show the location of vegetated slopes and walls in Laval and Deux-Montagnes.

Permanent noise barriers are installed where significant impacts have been identified by sound modelling, according to the criteria of the Ministère des Transports’ road noise policy. Noise barriers will mitigate these significant impacts. In addition, a noise monitoring program for the REM in operation will verify the performance of the noise barriers.
The entrance to the golf course on Les Cèdres Street will be preserved in its current location. The REM tracks will be elevated to run over the golf course entrance. The elevation of the tracks will be gradual and will extend for approximately 290 metres on either side of Les Cèdres Street, in order to respect the maximum slopes. The majority of this elevated structure will be composed of a vegetated embankment to mitigate its presence in the Laval-sur-le-Lac landscape.
The Roger-Lemoine woodland is not affected by the REM work. The infrastructure has been designed to protect this natural environment. Opposite the marsh, a wall is planned to support the REM tracks, which will protect the marsh by avoiding encroachment.
