Acoustic grinding of REM tracks

Acoustic grinding of REM tracks

Construction activities  | During the night only
Starting May 29, 2024, for a period of approximately ten days between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
North Shore

Nature of work :

Acoustic grinding of the REM tracks between the Saint-Eustache maintenance center and the Île-Bigras station is scheduled for starting on May 29, for a period of approximately ten days between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Grinding the track reduces rail roughness, thereby attenuating the noise associated with the passage of REM cars. The grinder - the equipment used to perform the grinding - will travel at a speed of around 30 km/h over the section, making between 10 and 12 round trips per night. Occasional noise impacts are to be expected.

Impacts and mitigation measures:

  • Night work will be required during this period.

  • Noise impacts are expected to occur from time to time as a result of this work.
