First REM car tests between Saint-Eustache and Sainte-Dorothée

Construction activities
Between February 24 and March 3, 2024, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m
North Shore

Nature of the tests:

Two REM cars will operate at low speed between the Saint-Eustache maintenance centre and the Sainte-Dorothée station. Cars will be in circulation between February 24 and March 3, 2024.
This exercise will make it possible to validate the components of the cars and audit the lanes. This is part of the steps required to prepare the network for the test start, scheduled for spring 2024.

Test zone on Deux-Montagnes branch

Please note :

  • For security purposes, it is prohibited for any unauthorized person to break into the lanes under pain of prosecution.
  • A driver will be always present aboard the car.
  • It will be possible to see a car at a stop.

About sound impact proficiency

The arrival of the REM cars may generate questions about the noise caused. In this sense :

  1. An analysis is underway to confirm that noise reduction measures already installed on the network allow noise limits to be respected.
  2. Sonometers will be placed at specific locations in the segment to quickly capture the effect of REM cars passing through.
  3.  Acoustic track grinding used to reduce roll-over noise will be completed before testing starts in spring 2024.
