Nature of the work

In view of upcoming work on the railway bridge over the Mille-Îles River, preparatory work is planned to create a work area and make way for the REM infrastructures, notably the doubling of the track.

This work includes the cutting of 133 trees, mainly on Île Boisée located on the Mille-Îles River, as well as a few trees on the south side of the railway bridge. Of these:

  • 85 trees are less than 10 centimetres in diameter
  • 38 trees are 10 centimetres or more in diameter

This work is scheduled to begin in late November 2020.

Area where the tree cutting will take place:

Mitigation measures

  • Tree cutting will be limited to what is really necessary for the work.
  • The work will be performed outside the nesting period (March 31 to August 15).
  • These activities will be supervised by environmental experts.
  • Through a reforestation program, the same number of trees cut in temporary construction zones will be replanted, and an additional 10% will be planted.

*Dates subject to change. The timeframe may be extended if necessary.
