Work in the Marc-Cantin sector

Nature of work

Construction of the REM began in the fall of 2018 along Marc-Cantin Street and is well underway. The elevated structure located along Marc-Cantin Street is almost finished. Other activities will continue until winter 2021 to complete the developments planned in this sector:

• Continued installation of beams and slabs 
• Completion of concreting of deck infrastructure
• Construction of the new Marc-Cantin Street 
• Installation of the tracks

Impacts and mitigation measures 

• Some of this work will generate noise, dust and truck traffic. Environmental experts will monitor noise and air quality to ensure that project criteria are met. Mitigation measures will be implemented where possible.
• A number of temporary traffic disruptions will be required to carry out the work, day and night. Flaggers and appropriate signage will be present to redirect traffic.
• Access to businesses will be ensured throughout the work.

* Noisy activities will take place primarily in the daytime and evenings. Due to the nature of the activities being performed, work cannot be interrupted while it is in progress; it must be completed so as to maintain the integrity of the existing infrastructure.
