Statements of offence and fines

General fines

If you infringe upon the Regulations, you are committing an infraction and are liable to be fined $75 to $500 for a natural person or $150 to $1,000 for an artificial person, according to the provision, plus applicable fees. In the event of a repeat offence, fines will be doubled.

Statements of offence can be issued by REM operations inspectors.

You will have 30 days to pay the fine or contest the statement of offence. The time frame does not necessarily start on the date of the infraction; rather, it starts when you receive the statement, be it from the inspector, the bailiff, by registered mail or any other authorized means.
