Concreting of the elevated structure deck over the Lachine Canal – Night work
Nature of the work
Concrete must be poured on the deck of the REM’s elevated structure between the beams installed above the Lachine Canal. To avoid obstructing Canadian National (CN) railway traffic and to ensure worker safety, the work will have to be performed at night.
Impacts and mitigation measures
- The work will generate noise and there will be a large number of trucks in the area. Experts will monitor noise to ensure project criteria are met. Mitigation measures will be put in place to reduce the impact of this noise as much as possible.
- Lighting towers will be installed to ensure workers’ health and safety. In order to minimize disturbance to surrounding residents, the direction of the lights will be adjusted.
- The part of the bike path under the bridge will be closed from Wednesday September 18 at 8 p.m. to Friday September 20 at 2 p.m. Cyclists and pedestrians will have to use the indicated detour route.
* Dates subject to change due to meteorological conditions and progress of construction. Please note that due to the nature of the activities being performed, work cannot be interrupted while it is in progress; it must be completed so as to maintain the integrity of the existing infrastructure. Should this situation arise, the work period will be extended to complete the work already begun.
