Major traffic disruptions – Installation of elevated structure beams and deck over Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard

Nature of the work*

Construction of the elevated structure of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) continues in Pointe-Saint-Charles. The next step is to install the beams and deck over Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard.

Impacts and mitigation measures

Several significant traffic pattern disruptions will take place simultaneously during this work:

• Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic between exit ramp 4 of the Bonaventure Expressway and Gilberte-Dubé Street on two consecutive weekends:
  • From Friday, May 29 at 10 p.m. to Monday, June 1 at 5 a.m.
  • From Friday, June 5 at 10 p.m. to Monday, June 8 at 5 a.m.
• During this period, we recommend seeking an alternate route, such as Wellington Street, when travelling to and from downtown if possible.
• Carrie-Derrick Street will also be closed as a safety precaution after the intersection with Fernand-Seguin Street. Flaggers will maintain access for employees in the area.
• Appropriate signage will be installed and detours will be available:
  • Westbound: Detour will be via the Bonaventure Expressway, Highway 15 South, Route 132 to Highway 15 North, and exit 61.
  • Eastbound: Detour will be via the exit 61 on-ramp to Highway 15 South, Route 132, Highway 15 North, and Exit 58 to the Bonaventure Expressway.
• This work will generate significant noise and dust. Environmental experts will monitor noise and air quality to ensure that project criteria are met. Additional mitigation measures may be implemented if necessary.
