Relocation of the Marie Launching Gantry - Obstruction of Highway 40 West

Road
From March 2, 10 p.m. to March 3, 2022, 6 a.m.
West Island and Airport

Nature of the work

In preparation for the construction of the deck of the elevated structure in the Technoparc Montréal area, which will be carried out in the spring of 2022, the teams must relocate the launching gantry.

Taking into account the size of the launching gantry, and the space constraints, the delivery will have to be carried out in the following way:

  • The launching gantry will be dismantled into several pieces to allow it to be transported over the roadways.
  • The relocation will take place at night, in order to limit the impact on traffic.
  • Once all the pieces have been delivered, the gantry can be reassembled at its new construction site, for the Airport Branch.

This delicate operation will be carried out under the supervision of our experts, in coordination with the fire department (Services de Sécurité Incendie – SIM) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) during the night of March 2, 2022. An alternating obstruction on Highway 40 West and the westbound service road should be expected from March 2, 10 p.m. to March 3, 2022, 6 a.m.

Impacts and mitigation measures:

The goal of the REM project office and the NouvLR consortium is to mitigate the impact on local residents and ensure everyone’s safety by taking all appropriate measures.

  • Several temporary obstructions will be required on Highway 40 West and the westbound service road, between Highway 13 and Fairview Avenue. Flaggers and appropriate signage will be used to facilitate traffic flow.
  • Since the obstruction on Highway 40 and on the service road will be alternating, no complete closure is expected in this sector.
