Nature of work

Work to prepare for construction of the future Réseau express métropolitain (REM) Panama bus terminal is necessary. This will include cutting trees and shrubs to clear sufficient space to build the future REM and Panama bus terminal infrastructures. Work will take place in march 2020.

A new landscaping plan will be implemented for the REM station in this sector, and will include planting new trees and shrubs.

Impacts and mitigation measures

  • Work will be performed outside the nesting season.
  • Activities will be supervised and coordinated by environmental experts, and will follow industry best practices and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Through a reforestation program, the same number of trees that were cut in temporary construction zones will be replanted, and an additional 10% will be planted in the municipal territory or borough where the trees were cut.

Work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work before and after this time period may be necessary to mobilize and demobilize all the equipment required for completing the work and cleaning up the site.
