Free service and schedule modifications until the service is stabilized
Due to the unacceptable service provided by the REM operator in recent weeks, starting Monday, February 24, measures affecting schedules and pricing will be implemented to offer more predictability and ease to users. The current operations are not meeting our expectations, and the teams are working tirelessly to restore quality service.
In summary
- Princing: During the week of February 24 to 28, users can access the REM and special shuttle buses all day, at no charge. This measure will be reviewed weekly.
- Schedules: The REM will offer service only during morning peak hours (5:30 AM to 10:00 AM) and evening peak hours (3:00 PM to 8:00 PM). REM trains will run every 10 minutes during these time slots. Outside these hours, the network will be closed.
- Shuttle buses : Shuttles will be available at all times to facilitate travel.
- Support: Teams will be deployed in the network and on trains to assist users during this period of instability.
Access without a transit fare, made possible through an agreement between CDPQ Infra and ARTM, specifically concerns access to the REM and shuttle buses 720, 721, 722, and 568. However, all other public transport services allowing access to the shuttles and the REM will maintain their usual pricing. Current monthly pass holders, who usually use the REM, will be entitled to a credit applicable only in anticipation of the renewal for next April. Details on how to benefit from this credit will be communicated by mid-March by ARTM.
Shuttle buses deployed by the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will be available at all times: during peak hours to support the REM and during the hours when the network is closed, to facilitate travel between the South Shore and downtown Montreal.
The application of these measures will be reviewed on a weekly basis depending on the stability of the service provided. This reduction in service hours aims to allow the operator's teams to carry out increased maintenance and equipment adjustments during network closings. For example, modifications will be made to the switches to allow better operation in winter conditions.
Intervention agents will be present in greater numbers on the network and in the cars. Their presence aims to ensure better communication with users and to offer quick support on the ground in case of a problem on the network.
