May 18, 2026: Scheduled Opening Date for the Anse-à-l’Orme Branch
Based on the tests conducted over the past few weeks—and if everything goes according to plan— we are pleased to inform you that the Anse-à-l'Orme branch of the REM will officially begin service on May 18.
This new segment represents an important milestone for mobility in the West Island: the REM becomes the first high frequency, structurally integrated public transit network to serve the area.
Four new stations
The Anse-à-l’Orme branch extends the REM alignment by 14 kilometres and adds four new stations located in the cities of Pointe-Claire, Kirkland and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue:
- Des Sources
- Fairview–Pointe-Claire
- Kirkland
- Anse-à-l’Orme
With this extension, the REM expands its service to nearly ten additional municipalities and boroughs. STM bus routes have also been adjusted to facilitate connections to REM stations.

A concrete alternative to driving
With the arrival of the REM in the West Island, residents of the area now benefit from:
- a fast and reliable link to downtown,
- frequent, fully automated service,
- direct integration with three metro lines, bus networks, and additional commuter rail lines.
A growing network
With the opening of the Anse-à-l’Orme branch, the REM now includes:
- 23 stations
- 63 kilometres of track
In addition, since the Deux-Montagnes branch entered service, average daily ridership has reached 75,000 trips, with a peak of 98,000 trips recorded in a single day. Data from recent months show a steady increase in REM ridership.
More information on the inauguration and public opening will be shared in the coming weeks.
