Prolonged service interruption

The REM operator, Pulsar, is informing that REM service between Brossard and Gare Centrale will not be able to resume this morning. Yesterday, in the late afternoon, a period of intense freezing rain, localized on the South Shore and the Champlain Bridge, caused an exceptional accumulation of ice on the catenary, resulting in a complete shutdown of service between Brossard and Gare Centrale.

Given the scale of the situation, crews began manually de-icing the catenary along the 15 kilometers of affected track. These operations, which began last night, continued through the night. Their progress, however, remains limited due to shifting weather conditions and sustained winds.

Several more hours will be required to complete the work on both tracks. Crews are first focusing their efforts on one track in order to enable a partial service resumption (one train every 35 minutes), before turning to the second track to restore the regular frequency.

Bus replacement service

Shuttle buses are providing service from all South Shore stations (Brossard, Du Quartier, Panama) and from Île-des-Sœurs toward Central Station. Passengers are encouraged to go to their usual station, where on‑site staff will be available to guide them.

Regular service between Gare Centrale and Deux‑Montagnes

Service is operating normally between Deux‑Montagnes and Gare Centrale in both directions. Preventive measures, along with the circulation of empty trains overnight, helped limit the impact of the precipitation on this segment of the line.
